Welcome to Special Zoo Experiences!

Our Special Zoo Experiences give guests opportunities to discover the Zoo beyond the usual Zoo visit. Each Experience is unique and brings participants closer to the beauty and wonder of the natural world. Some experiences have limited dates available - click for more information.

	Dolphin In-Water Adventure Dolphin In-Water registration is open now! The Dolphin In-Water Adventure gives guests the opportunity to meet our dolphins up close and personal with an experience of a lifetime. Participants will meet a dolphin in the pool, learn hand signals for behaviors and reward a dolphin with fish.
	Adventure Tours Adventure Tours take guests for a sneak peek behind the scenes at the Zoo. These tours give guests an opportunity to view the Zoo from a different vantage point and encounter animals in a new way. Participants will have special stage seats for the Dolphin Show, go behind the scenes, and meet an animal up close and personal.
	NEW! Commissary Adventure Tour This opportunity takes you behind the scenes to see how the professional staff of the Indianapolis Zoo feeds its thousands of animals. You'll have fun with food as well as learning fascinating information about what animal eats what food during this interesting opportunity.
	Elephant Art Adventure presented by Bob Evans Art Adventure registration is open now! An Elephant Art Adventure presented by Bob Evans will take up to four guests behind the scenes where one of our elephant artists will create a painting to take home. Guests will meet the artist and learn what makes them unique in our herd, as well as help choose colors for their painting.
	Elephant Bathing Adventure Elephant Bathing registration is open now! This is your opportunity to get close enough to an elephant to touch it - in multiple places! While our elephants get a bath, you will assist with the scrub down and learn about these magnificent creatures, the largest animal on land. Up to four people can participate at only $35 per person.
	Penguin Art Adventure Art Adventure registration is open now! A Penguin Art Adventure will take you and three guests (up to four total participants) behind the scenes to meet one of our penguin artists that will create a painting just for you to take home. Participants will go behind the scenes in the penguin area of Oceans, meet a penguin, learn about some of things that make penguins unique in the bird world.
	Pinniped Art Adventure Art Adventure registration is open now! A Pinniped Art Adventure will take you and three guests (up to four total participants) behind the scenes to meet one of our seal, sea lion, or walrus artists that will create a painting just for you to take home. Participants will go behind the scenes in the seal, sea lion or walrus holding area, meet a seal, sea lion, or walrus learn about some of things that make them unique.
	Junior Train Engineer Has your child ever wanted to be a train engineer? With this program from the Zoo, kids age five and up can experience what it's like to be a train conductor. For $15, participants get to ride up front next to the train conductor while wearing their own special train conductor cap, ring the bell, and blow the train whistle.
	Junior Dolphin Trainer Lots of young people dream of someday becoming a dolphin trainer. The Junior Dolphin Trainer program presented by Dippin' Dots offers a closeup encounter for the little marine mammal lover in the family. Purchase your Junior Dolphin Trainer ticket at the admissions window when you arrive at the Zoo, and you will be assigned a dolphin show to attend, plus a special badge.
